Devon and Cornwall Police honoured the professionalism and commitment of police officers, staff and volunteers from the Cornwall policing area at an awards ceremony.
Chief Superintendent Julie Fielding, Superintendent John Green, Superintendent Jim Pearce and Detective Superintendent Jim Colwell presented awards to 16 dedicated individuals from the West Cornwall policing area.
PC Toby Best received the Chief Superintendent’s Commendation for his contribution to producing a pioneering document - The Cornwall Schools Transgender Guidance in collaboration with The Intercom Trust, Devon and Cornwall Police, Cornwall Council and head teachers.
DC Claire Penaluna received the Chief Superintendent’s Commendation for her outstanding dedication and investigation work in three historic domestic abuse cases, giving support to the victims in challenging circumstances and providing much needed care and reassurance.
PC Helen Newton received the Chief Superintendent’s Commendation for her bravery and dedication to duty in the most extreme of circumstances after rescuing a family trapped in a vehicle in rising flood water.
Special Constable David Coulthard received the Chief Superintendent’s Commendation for responding to a serious road traffic collision near Bodmin in December 2013 and remaining calm in the challenging circumstances.
DC Claire Penaluna, DC Jonathan Viant, DC Deborah Roberts and DC Stephen Richards received the Superintendent’s Commendation for their commitment and dedication to the successful investigation and prosecution of historic child abuse cases between 1994 and 2009.
PC Lesley Loring and PC David Tyler received the Superintendent’s Commendation for their bravery and dedication to duty after dealing with an aggressive and violent drunk driver in April 2014.
Marianne Flood received the Superintendent’s Certificate for her outstanding contribution to a major crime investigation which involved the double murder of two men near St Austell in June 2011.
PC Barry Nicholas received the Superintendent’s Certificate for his hard work and dedication in his numerous roles for the Force and continued commitment to policing in Cornwall.
PS James Little and PC Richard Hosken-Johns received the Superintendent’s Certificate for their professionalism, outstanding resilience and teamwork after assistanting at a fatal road traffic collision on the A30 Launceston in December 2013.
Special Sergeant Max Jagger received the Superintendent’s Certificate for his professionalism and compassion after responding to a road traffic collision whilst working in Scotland in August 2013.
PC James Tompson received the Superintendent’s Certificate for his hard work, dedication to duty and continued commitment to policing in Cornwall.
