A local MP and his partner who have just become parents will be spending Valentine's Day at the launch of the Cornish Real Nappy Project's Nappies for All' campaign.

Matthew Taylor, MP for Truro & St. Austell, and his partner Vicky Garner will be attending the event with their 12 week old son, Arthur.

Mr Taylor will be sharing his experiences as a new parent, and the couple will be borrowing a real nappy trial kit to discover more about the different nappies available to families.

The Nappies for All' campaign is the result of a partnership between the Cornish Real Nappy Project and Cornwall County Council's Family Services, and will aim to provide parents with interest free loans in order to meet the initial costs of buying real nappies.

"This is all completely new to us and we're learning through trial and error, so we're open to any solutions that make our lives easier, Arthur more comfortable, and the environment cleaner," said the MP who is giving up his parliamentary duties at the next election.

"At the moment we are using organic, compostable nappies, as like many parents we are struggling to keep on top of the washing. However, we are well aware that while this is an environmentally sound decision, it is an expensive one. For many parents, real nappies can make sense, both environmentally and economically, especially if there are schemes like these to help with initial costs."
