The South West Royal Navy frigate HMS Cornwall and her crew of 270 personnel visited the Spanish City of Barcelona to promote British industry abroad.
The main aim of the visit was for the ship to play host to British companies exhibiting their products to the Spanish Ministry of Defence and armed forces.
Commander Jeremy Woods, commanding officer of Cornwall's adoped ship, said: "It was an honour to host the British Ambassador and his wife onboard and for HMS Cornwall to be used as an excellent venue to support British companies in exhibiting their products. Barcelona is a wonderful city, with a lot of variety.
"My ship's company enjoyed their time here, learning about the culture whilst interacting with the Spanish and British expat communities."
It was the first of several stops for the Plymouth-based Type 22 frigate, as she continues on her passage through the Mediterranean, on route to the Arabian Gulf, having left HM Naval Base Devonport on January 22..
Many of the crews are from Cornwall and members of the ship's ship's rugby team which held its first training session on the beach in preparation for several hard games during the deployment.
