A Post Office spokesperson has confirmed that an employee at the Falmouth sorting office has resigned following an investigation into mail being stolen.
It had been rumoured that a post office employee had stolen bags of mail and stole dvds and cds which they illegally copied and distributed.
Jane Thomas, speaking on behalf of the Post Office, said: "We can confirm that there is an investigation underway at Falmouth sorting office but it is still ongoing.
"The police are not involved in the investigation and no-one has been suspended. But I can confirm that following the investigation someone has resigned.
"We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to dishonesty and we always seek to prosecute those who break the law and that view is shared by many other postmen and women who work the post office."
