MYLOR parish council has agreed to have double yellow lines painted on the road outside of the butchers shop to stop inconsiderate drivers from parking there.

Chairman Tony Andrew said there had been problems with people parking outside of Mylor Stores and the Mylor Butchers and with the ongoing work on the Tremayne Hall it had been causing traffic chaos.

Mr Andrew said: "People have been parking outside the shops which has caused trouble for the shops, the builders working on Tremayne Hall and local residents. It is costing people time and money and it is annoying because there is a perfectly good car park across the road at The Leats."

Previously a white line had been painted next to the butchers in an attempt to deter people from parking there but it has not worked.

The council discussed the idea of installing double yellow lines outside of the shop and Cornwall county councillor Robert Hichens informed them that it may take around a year for the work to be agreed on and completed.

Councillor Dorrit Smith said that if that was the case they should apply for the lines to be installed immediately and get the work done as soon as possible.

The council agreed to pursue the matter and have double yellow lines painted from the end of Mylor Stores along the fron of the butchers to the corner of Trevellan Road.
