TRURO u11s 2 HELSTON u11s 3

HELSTON went into this game on top of La Liga under-11, determined to stay there, and with conditions favouring Helston's passing game, they found themselves up against a Truro side keen to build on their recent good results.

The first half began with Helston going on the attack, forcing Truro to defend, but against the flow of the game Truro took the lead when a long ball launched into the Helston box beat Bain after he lost the flight of the ball in the sunshine.

Helston were stunned by this and produced some fine football that had the Truro defence struggling to contain them, and the equaliser was not long in the making when L Trathen sent in a fine cross that Walker converted. With the first goal scored, Helston took complete control of the game and two quick goals from Leathley and R Trathen meant that the score was 3-1 in favour of Helston at the break.

The second half saw Truro determined to reduce the deficit, and after a fine move that left Helston chasing shadows they scored their second. THE Helston defence of Mills and Sedgwick were rarely troubled after this, restricting Truro to long range efforts that Bain dealt with, with ease. The industrious Millard brothers were a thorn in Truro's side, supporting both the attack and defence.

Helston carved out a number of chances that would have seen them enhancing their lead, but it was not to be. The final score saw Helston win 3-2 to keep their title ambitions intact.
