Thousands of women are expected to come together across the UK to take part in Cancer Research UK's world record-breaking Race for Life 2007 series and many will be joining in the Falmouth event.

Entries are now being received for the race which takes place on Sunday May 20. The Truro Race for Life will be on July 15 at a new venue, Richard Lander School.

Now in its 4th year at Falmouth, the popular race is expected to raise £122,000 by bringing together 1,800 women and will as last year be supported by the Packet. Some of the staff will also be taking part.

Scott Renken, organiser of Falmouth's Race for Life, said: "Last year's event had an unforgettable atmosphere and was a great success, raising £105,000. I'd really urge every woman to take part as it's such an inspiring day and the money raised really does make an invaluable contribution to beating cancer."

Since Race for Life began back in 1994, over 2.7 million women across the UK have taken part, raising over £140 million to fund the charity's pioneering work to help beat cancer. Every pound raised in sponsorship goes directly to the scientists, doctors and nurses who work ambitiously to find new treatments.

Some women taking part in the Falmouth race are cancer survivors while others will run or walk in memory or to celebrate the lives of family, friends or loved ones, making the race experience both emotional and inspiring. At each event around the country there is the same, overwhelming sense of pride and sisterhood.
