MORE than 800,000 women are expected to come together across the UK to take part in Cancer Research UK's world record-breaking Race for Life 2007 series and many will be in the Truro race on July 15.
Supported by Tesco, entries are now being received and although later in the year than usual, the Truro race is set to be one with a bumper turnout.
This year, the Truro Race for Life will be taking place at a brand new venue - the new Richard Lander School. It will be the sixth race in the city, but the move to this new venue has meant that partici pant capacity has been increased to 2,500, and the race is expected to raise £160,000.
Parking will be available at the nearby Truro College.
Scott Renken, organiser said: "Last year's event had an unforgettable atmos phere and was a great success, raising £123,000. I'd really urge every woman to take part as it's such an inspiring day and the money raised really does make an invaluable contribution to beating can cer."
As in previous years the race is being supported by Packet Newspapers.
Since Race for Life began back in 1994, over 2.7 million women across the UK have taken part, raising over £140 million to fund the charity's pioneering work to help beat cancer. Every pound raised in sponsorship goes directly to the scien tists, doctors and nurses who work ambi tiously to find new treatments.
Some of the women taking part are cancer survivors while others will run or walk in memory or to celebrate the lives of family, friends or loved ones, making the race experience both emotional and inspiring.
At each event around the country there is the same, overwhelming sense of pride and sisterhood.
