A PUB landlord was lucky to escape with his life after an ignited hose attached to a 19kg gas bottle was shoved through the letterbox of his front door.
Police are appealing for information following the incident at The Upper Deck pub at 3 Boscawen Road, Perranporth between 1am and 4.15am on February 13.
The 19KG red gas bottle with the name 'WARRIOR' printed on the side in white, had a length of pipe attached. The bottle was turned on and the ignited pipe pushed through the letter box.
The fire caused damage to an internal hallway and stairwell. The fire alarm went off and woke the landlord who was asleep in his accommodation above the pub. The police and fire service subsequently attended and the fire put out.
Anyone in the Perranporth area who has had a gas bottle as described stolen or if anyone has any information regarding the incident should notify DC Mark Anderson at TRURO CID on 08452 777 444 X 6045 and quote GR/07/90
