Phil de Glanville the former England rugby captain and now head of delivery at Sport England South West, will be attending the Cornwall Sports Awards 2007 as a guest speaker.

Cornwall Sports Partnership is inviting nominations for the awards which will be staged at the Burrell Theatre, Truro School on June 6.

This prestigious event, staged for the first time in 2006, has been designed to recognise and honour the contributions made by dedicated sports coaches, officials, clubs, volunteers and young leaders from across the county.

The five categories incorporate 18 separate awards which include club of the year, coach of the year and lifetime services to sport.

This year's ceremony has been designed to build on the success of last year's inaugural event.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the successes of sports, clubs, coaches and volunteers throughout the length and breadth of the county," said Natasha Sandoe, club development officer.

"Anyone can make a nomination, with no limit on the number of nominations that can be made by an organisation or an individual, although clubs or individuals must be based in Cornwall."

Nomination forms are available from www.cornwallsportspartnership.co.uk by telephoning Natasha Sandoe on 01872 324395 or emailing nsandoe@cornwall.gov.uk The closing date for nominations is March 31, 2007.
