TRURO City has underlined its ambitions by appointing a director of corporate sales, Kevin Girdler, who joins the club from Premiership side Reading.
Girdler was with Reading for 15 years, during which time the Berkshire club moved to the 25,000 seater Madejski Stadium and achieved Premiership status for the first time in its 126-year history.
As Reading's commercial manager Girdler, 51, was responsible for the club's sponsorship, advertising and match day hospitality. He played a key roll in the development of Reading's commercial success and instrumental in the transition from their former home, Elm Park, to Madejski Stadium in 1998.
On his arrival at Treyew Road Girdler csaid: "I am delighted and honoured to be joining Truro City at such an exciting time in the club's history. Chairman Kevin Heaney's vision to make this club the first professional football club in this wonderful county played a big part in my decision to join.
"I know first hand the importance and positive effect that a successful football club can have on the community as a whole. The chairman, staff, team and supporters have all done a brilliant job in taking the club to its present level and I have no doubt an exciting future lies ahead."
Girdler added: "I look forward to further raising the club's profile by engaging with and developing relations with the business community across Cornwall."
