Helston 2nds 12pts
Stithians 2nds 19pts
A last minute switch due to King George V field being waterlogged saw Helston entertain local rivals Stithians at Helston College.
Early pressure saw Helston take the lead with an unconverted try scored by flanker Andy Searle, but Stithians replied with a well-taken try by Ben Waters which was converted by fly half Martin Strick.
Helston then took the lead with a move started by Searle which was followed up by scrum half Martin Wallis who was tap tackled just before the try line. He popped up the pass to second row Tel Strickett who crashed over to make the conversion easy for fly half Steve Trethowan.
Again, Stithians broke up field, and just before half time Michael Creeden scored under the posts to allow Strick to add the extra points.
Early in the second half Helston made several changes, but despite having a lot of territory were not able to convert pressure into points. Full back Kev Mitchell missed with two penalties, then to add salt to the wounds, just before the final whistle Stithians scrum half Ben Kay broke through for an unconverted try to make the final score 19-12 to the visitors.
Helston find themselves back in league action next week against visitors Saltash. Kick-off is at 2.30 pm at King George V playing field.
