If you've planned to holiday in Cornwall this half term don't miss out on the fun-fuelled week of free drop-in activities for all the family at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth.
From early years activities and compass-making to theatre performances and storytelling, families will find something for everyone from 10 to 25 February. What's more, all activities are free with the standard admission price and once you'd paid this once you can come again for the next 12 months for free!
The hands-on holiday fun starts the weekend of the 10 and 11 of February and running everyday during half-term from the 17 February, 2pm to 4pm, when you can put your sheep-shank, bowline and other rope skills to the test in Get knotted'.
Or make your own model boat to race across the Museum's waterfront pool in Bottle Boats & Paddle Power!' from 19 to 23 February, between 1-4pm.
On 18 and 25 February in a practical drop-in activity, between 12-3pm, you can improve your survival skills, whilst learning about magnetism, by making a working compass rose' to navigate across the ocean.
The incredible voyage of the Mystery' featured on 13 and 20 February, between 12-3pm, is a spell-binding performance about seven Cornish fishermen who one night decided to sail to the faraway gold fields of Australia in a tiny fishing boat.
Furthermore, bringing the mystery of the Cornish coast into the Museum, avid listeners will be whisked away to sea during dramatic story-telling sessions on 15 and 22 February, between 12-3pm. Then, on the 17 and 24 February, visitors will be able to travel back to the 19th century and meet two characters from the heyday of Cornish pilchard fishing in the colourful theatre performance Hevva! Hevva! on the hour between 12-3pm.
And the fun doesn't stop there as the Museum will also be running two workshops designed especially to support parents and young ones learning together. Museum Minnows' on 16 and 23 February are one hour multi-sensory sessions that combine creative activities and storytelling for under 5 year olds.
Don't forget that if you pay once to go to the Museum you're now able to return as many times as you like for 12 months. So, with so much happening over the half-term week, come on in and you and your family will then be able to return again and again.
