MANY people may not have heard of the Department for Social Sciences, Social Work & Health Professions at Cornwall College Camborne.
In terms of how long the college has been in existence, fast approaching its 80th anniversary, the department is relatively new.
Established to meet the growing demand for degree-level study in Cornwall in the Health and Social Care sector, the department offers a wide range of courses and progression routes for all.
To help people find out more about the courses available, the college is holding a drop in' advice session on Saturday March 3 from 10am to 1pm in the conference suite in the Penhaligon Building on the Cornwall College Camborne campus in Pool.
It is an ideal chance for anyone interested in developing their career prospects in the health care sector, to get some specific advice from the experts. Whether you are looking to retrain in a different area, or build on the qualifications you already have, teaching staff from all of the specialist courses, will be able to point you in the right direction.
Ruth Beretta, curriculum area manager, said: "Flexible study options for both full and part-time are now available on a range of courses from introductory programmes to full honours degrees.
"We cover such a wide range of study including Counselling, Health & Social Care Professions, Nursing, Social Sciences and Social Work. And our courses are not just for professionals looking to further their careers, we also offer a range of access to higher education' programmes, so, for someone with little or no prior experience of these areas, it is possible to retrain for the career they have always wanted."
