THE Tamar Building at Cornwall College will be a hive of activity on Wednesday February 28 as architects exhibit their outline ideas for the Heartlands project in Pool.

To launch the project and the first consultation event specifically for this scheme, there will be a series of exciting light installations around Pool created by local artists, children from Pool School and students from Cornwall College.

Artists and students have been working on the project over the past few weeks and the Heartlands Consultation event is a great opportunity to show-off local talent through projections and light.

Heartlands will see the Tamar Building lit with a spectacular lighting show that will celebrate Cornish Culture and Heritage.

The Mitchell Chimney in Agar Road and Robinsons Shaft Chimney will be also be colourfully lit to highlight the Heritage of Pool and the Heartlands Consultation Event.

Scott James, Heartlands Project Manager, highlighted how far the Heartlands Project has progressed so far, he said: "We have so far succeeded in getting to the last 23 projects in the UK bidding for the Big Lottery Fund Living Landmarks grant, this is from over 500 applications received.

"This is a great boost to the project, and the area generally, however we are still very much in a competition for funding and so the ongoing commitment to engaging with the local community is crucial to our chances of success. The consultation on the 28th February will be a chance to discuss both what people want to see in the Heartlands Project, but also find out more about the competition which we are in."

The event will run from 12pm to 8pm at the Tamar Building, for further information visit www.theheartlandsproject.org.uk
