THE long haul to the coveted Easter Monday Finals reaches a critical stage tomorrow evening when Mawnan meet Praze in the Western Section Cornwall Junior Cup Final at Falmouth Town's Bickland Park.
Both sides go into the final believing that they have what it takes to set up a meeting with the Easter Section winners, either St Dennis or Gunnislake.
The match will have added significance following the tragic death of Praze player Gareth Caddy who was killed in a road accident just hours after the game.
"I think Gareth's death has given the boys a bit of an edge. You can sense they feel that they want to do it for Gareth. It's going to be a very emotional occasion for them.
"But we know we face a difficult task because Mawnan have some very god players who have played quality football.
"We are a young and up and coming side and this is our first junior cup final. We are definitely the new boys on the block as far as that is concerned.
"Everyone at the club is looking forward to the final and I hope that it is competitive and won by the best team on the night and then share a few beers in the clubhouse after the match."
Mawnan's player manager, Gregg Renfree, is also expecting a keen encounter.
"This will be our fourth Western Section final in eight seasons," said Renfree. "Everyone of those proved a very difficult match and this will not be any different.
"Any team that can turn over Threemilestone and then go to Porthleven and earn a replay and win it must be a very, very good team, so we are under no illusions about how dangerous Praze are.
"But I'm happy with my squad and if they are all fit and play to their potential, then we will be in with a chance just like Praze."
