CULDROSE 0 HELSTON 1
HELSTON resumed their local rivalry with Culdrose on a pitch that cut up and in a wind that ran through the players.
Helston found themselves down to a squad of eight after a freak accident during training sidelined Sedgwick.
The first half began with Culdrose kicking off and taking the game to Helston, but to no avail as they found the impressive Walker and Mills dominant in defence.
After the first few minutes Helston regained their composure and took the game to Culdrose with R Trathen leading the line well, bringing in the runs of L Trathen, Leathley, R Millard and T Millard, who all went close, but no goals were scored and the half ended 0-0.
Helston began the second half in the same determined mood to secure a victory, and went close on a number of occasions before R Trathen latched onto a cross from L Trathen and after seeing his first effort blocked hammered home his second attempt.
This was nothing more than Helston deserved, and they were not about to let the lead disappear.
Culdrose mustered a couple of chances, but found Bain in the form that the team have come to expect.
T Millard went close on three further occasions as did efforts from L Trathen and R Trathen, which on another day would have seen a more deserving final score for this fine display.
