A body found in fields near Truro was formally identified today as a 51-year-old man who went missing nearly a year ago.
Police have confirmed that the body is that of Kenneth Walton, from St Columb Minor, who was last seen near the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro last April.
He had an injury to his left ankle and was likely to be wearing a plaster cast around the lower part of his leg and foot and walking with crutches at the time he died.
The remains were found in a field at Woodcock Corner, near the A390, at the beginning of January. A coroner has now opened and adjourned an inquest into the circumstances surrounding Mr Walton's death.
Following the discovery, police appealed to members of the public who may have seen Mr Walton shortly before his disappearance or who may have had information about the find to come forward.
