Young musicians at Truro School have held two fund-raising concerts to raise money to help others.
In the first event, pupils aged between 12 and 16 staged their own performance by various groups which raised over £1,000 to help provide facilities for local young musicians in the Truro area.
They are donating the proceeds of the evening to Zebs, the musical drop-in centre in the city, which provides free rehearsal and recording facilities for budding musicians.
The school's Burrell Theatre was packed for the occasion, which was organised by Year 11 students Claire Powers, Lizzy Moore and Harriet Hougham-Slade.
The Junior Charity Concert was followed on Wednesday by a similar event organised by their elder colleagues in the Sixth Form.
Their chosen good cause was the National Aids Trust, which was chosen by organisers Pippa Allsop and Fizz Turner. Sales of tickets and label ribbons raised a further sum of £1,000 on the night.
Deputy Head Simon Price explained that the charity concerts were now something of an annual tradition in the school. "Personally I think they are a highlight in the school calendar.
The range of talent on display is phenomenal, and the (mostly) loud exciting music gives everyone a great buzz. I overheard a teacher say he found the display of his pupils' talent and commitment 'humbling'. It is also heart-warming to see the young people organising such events themselves. And they never let the audience forget that the main reason for doing it is to raise money for good causes."
