University College Falmouth has unveiled its 2007 programme of Summer Schools and short courses.
Ranging from five-day writing courses to crafts-based ceramic workshops, each course has been designed to deliver the very highest standards of tuition and professional practice and, to achieve that, the College has gathered together a unique group of internationally-renowned artists, writers and designers to run them.
Painter and printmaker Jesse Leroy Smith will be running a Printmaking Summer School (23-27 July). Landscape architect Alistair Rivers, will be joining Richard Sneesby, head of the College's BA(Hons) Garden Design course and himself a former Chelsea Flower Show award-winner, to run a Garden Design Summer School (25-27 July). Author Neil Griffiths, will be running a crash course for writers in how to perfect their writing style (27-30 June), and Gayle Matthias will be running a course in glass-making and modelling techniques.
There will also be courses in contemporary ceramics, raku, special textile workshops, and several other writing courses, including Writing for Children with children's author Karen King, Novel Writing with Jane Pollard, and a course devised by Victoria Field, a writer and poetry therapist.
Dr Jeremy Richards, the College's Director of Research & Enterprise, said: "Summer Schools and short courses are an excellent way for people to develop and refine their skills and, for those thinking of going into Higher Education, they're also an excellent opportunity to sample College life and even, perhaps, to explore the possibilities of new career paths."
