Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) is launching Wear you Wellies Day' on Friday April 27 to mark the opening of its brand new hospice Charlton Farm in Wraxall.

The people of Cornwall are being urged to wear wellies to work, school, gym or nursery as a fun and easy way to help raise funds for CHSW as well as have a good laugh with your work colleagues and friends.

Eddie Farwell, chief executive of Children's Hospice South West said: "It's very exciting that Charlton Farm will soon be opening its doors and welcoming its first families. Our dream is finally becoming reality, and it would never have been possible without the continued support of people across the region. We want everyone to help us mark this special time and join in the celebration, be wearing their wellies whether at work, school or home.

"For those wishing to raise some money at the same time, you can make a donation no matter how big or small and send a cheque made out to CHSW for totalling the proceeds raised to us at Charlton Farm or alternatively deliver by hand if it is cash. Sponsor Forms can be obtained by ringing 01275 866600 or email enquiries@chsw.org.uk CHSW started raising funds to build Charlton Farm three years ago and after successfully raising approx £12m they are ready to host their first families who will arrive on Monday 30th April. Fundraisers and supporters have worked tirelessly to make this dream happen offering a safe haven to children who suffer from life-limiting illnesses. New facilities at Charlton Farm include state of the art technology in a multi-sensory room, a messy playroom and Jacuzzi.

It will cost £6m a year to maintain both Charlton Farm and Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, the first hospice opened by CHSW over ten years ago. Reach for your wellies on Friday April 27 to mark this special day and raise money for CHSW!
