Posh frocks and tuxedoes will be the standard dress this evening at an event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Falmouth Coastguard Station.
The Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre was built at Pendennis Point housing state-of-the-art equipment, replacing a small hut at the edge of the cliff.
Over the last 25 years countless lives have been saved through rescues co-ordinated from the Falmouth station, which has built up an international reputation. From its small beginnings, rescues are now organised from the station right the way around the world.
To celebrate the silver anniversary, past and present staff from the centre are gathering tonight for a dinner and dance at the Falmouth Beach Resort Hotel, at which centre manager Simon Rabett will praise his team for their dedication and hard work over the years.
For a full feature on the station, including interviews and pictures, see next Wednesday's Falmouth Packet.
