A new Cornish Cloudy Cyder designed to tickle the taste buds of a new generation of cyder drinkers and created by two dynamic brothers from a new generation of cyder makers, has been launched in bottles following the runaway success of the drink in pubs throughout Cornwall.

Cornish Rattler is the product of four years of development by Joe and Sam Healey of the Cornish Cyder Farm at Penhallow near Truro. The brothers have grown up around the business, which is owned by their father, and the pair decided to put their family's knowledge of Cyder production to good use by creating a new type of Cyder to rival lagers, alcopops and more traditional ciders drunk by the younger generation.

Cornish Rattler gets its name from an old fashioned variety of Cornish apples which are used as part of the blend of apples grown and pressed at the Cornish Cyder Farm's orchards at Penhallow near Truro.

Committed to producing cyder with a truly Cornish taste, the Cyder Farm is reintroducing many old varieties of Cornish apples into its orchards and is constantly planting more apple trees to keep up with demand.

Joe Healey, 20, who is in his second year of studying Business Administration at Bath University in preparation for working for the family business full time when he graduates is delighted with the success of his first cyder. "Cornish Rattler is very different from the other cyders that we produce and the big name brands sold in most pubs because we purposely set out to create a new cloudy cyder that would appeal to a new generation of cyder drinkers," he said.

Cornish Rattler is officially launched on Friday 20 at Kingsley Village, Fraddon.
