The votes are in, the coupons have been counted and the winners of the Packet's Win A Wedding competition, in association with St Michaels Hotel, can finally be revealed as Tammy Duckham and Scott Hackett from Falmouth.
The competition, for this top prize of a wedding at the St Michaels Hotel with all the essentials including the dress, the rings, the suit the cake etc, was extremely tight with thousands of votes being cast.
Voting was extremely close with all eight finalists putting in a final push to try and win this brilliant prize. But there can only be one winning couple, and this week Tammy and Scott were trying to come to terms with the fact that it was them.
"I was very surprised," said Tammy. "We didn't know how well we were doing. It was quite a shock, although a very nice shock. My family are really, really pleased. It hasn't really sunk in yet.
"I saw the competition in the Packet and thought this is an amazing prize. So I entered it but then didn't really think much more about it.
"I've never won anything like this before. I'm just not one of those kind of people, the kind of person who wins anything really. We went along to the wedding fair at St Michael's Hotel and I was absolutely gobsmacked when we we were picked.
"We didn't really have any strategy. I work in two bars in town and all my regular customers got behind us. We put some stuff up on Facebook. It was quite surprising how many people voted for us."
Tammy's future husband Scott, who works at Pendennis Shipyard, hadn't even told his family in Birmingham that they had entered the Win A Wedding competition and was on the phone last night revealing their good news, said Tammy.
Packet editor Paul Armstrong said: "We have been overwhelmed by the response to this year's Win A Wedding competition. There has been a real air of excitement at the Packet offices as the votes came in.
"Congratulations to our winners Tammy and Scott and thank you to all the other finalists for taking part in the competition. Thanks must also go to our partners the St Michaels Hotel and all the other businesses that provided their services for free."
Tammy and Scott will be married on April 30, 2016 at St Michael's Hotel.
As well as the St Michaels Hotel, the partners in this year's competition are Kalisle Siddiqui Photography, Wedding Flowers in Cornwall, Amelia's Classic Cars, You Say, I Do wedding stationery, Bow fashion accessories, Absolute Chocolate, Simply Lovely chair coverings, Little Anne Maids, Frocks and Frills, Claire's Cakes, HFM hair for men, Gillian Cove wedding favours, Babulu Films and Wearne's Jewellers.
