LAUNCESTON LADIES 1
GOONHAVERN LADIES 4
GOONHAVERN finished their season with a great result at in-form Launceston.
This was a tough encounter but Goonhavern controlled much of the game playing some excellent football.
However Launceston provided a real threat on the break, especially with their aerial advantage, but the visitors adapted splendidly.
Goonhavern took the lead in fortuitous fashion. Danni Small cut in from the right and sent in a deep cross which looked comfortable for the home keeper but she failed to hold onto the ball and it found it's way into the net.
It was a lead that Goonhavern had threatened and from then on never looked back. The second half saw Goonhavern dominate and score three further goals. First, Stacey Tonkin was played in by the hard working LA Reeks and slotted firmly past the advancing keeper.
Then, deep into the second half Tonkin scored her second goal and the pick of the four. Great build up work on the right involving Danni Small, Reeks and Sarah Mansfield saw Maeve Clark cut in and deliver a superb low cross for Tonkin to hit first time giving the keeper no chance.
Sarah Mansfield wrapped up the win after being played in by Reeks. Mansfield held off two strong challenges before hitting a low left foot shot beyond the keeper.
Launceston still posed problems for the visitors defence and were rewarded late in the game with a consolation goal.
Rose Knuckey was outstanding for Goonhavern and was awarded player of the match.
Goonhavern will now lose four players - Sarah Mansfield, Eva Ramsey, Sarah Stovell and Lucy Hatfield - to university next season.
