MOUSEHOLE 1

TRURO CITY 1

JOLLY'S Combination League title chasers Mousehole saw their hopes suffer a setback when they were held to a 1-1 draw by current champions Truro City.

The visitors had the better of the opening stages as they put Mousehole under pressure and they almost took the lead in the fifth minute when Steve Hawke's shot was tipped over the bar by Ben Nurse.

Hawke got free again in the 20th minute and combined well with Luke Wort to set up Martin Moon who pulled his shot just wide of the post.

Nurse did well to save a well-struck 30-yard shot from Wort whilst at the other end Mousehole failed to create any clear-cut chances of note.

City took the lead ten minutes into the second half when Jack Wing was brought down. Justin Miles took the free kick and gave the goalkeeper no chance with a great shot into the corner of the net.

The equaliser came in fortunate circumstances for the home side. Joel Keen hit miss-hit his shot into the ground which bounced over Chris Mude for Barry Prowse to run on and knock into the net.

City had a chance to snatch victory with a late attack, but Hawke took a shot at goal when a pass to the unmarked Wort might have been a better option.

"Considering our injuries, I was very pleased with the team and the point," said manager Gary Pascoe.
