FOR their penultimate match of the season in the Premier Division of the British Inter Counties Darts Championship, Cornwall made the trip to Essex and made a good start on the Saturday with the Women's B 5-1 winners and even though the Men's B lost 7-5, Cornwall edged into the overnight break two games ahead.
On the Sunday, the scores were drawn level when the Essex Women's A team were 4-2 winners, but an 8-4 win by the Essex Men's A team meant that Cornwall had to come home beaten 20-16, but are still third from the bottom in the league, eight points above Warwickshire and 28 points above bottom of the table, Staffordshire.
Match award winners for Cornwall were Men's A: Kevin De Rosa with a 25.92 single dart average. Women's A: Claire Combes, 20.73. Men's B: Paul Cook, 26.19. Women's B: Teresa Brookshaw, 18.71.
Cornwall's last match of the season is at home to fourth placed Kent, when they hope for good support at Mount Charles Social Club on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday April 22, with the B team matches starting at 12 noon on the Saturday and the A team matches getting underway at 11am on the Sunday.
