WITH division one already completed, attention focused last week on the remaining issues in divisions two and three of the Mining Division Snooker League.

Champions elect of division two, Godolphin A, went down to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of St Day. The battle for the runners-up spot is still undecided, and will go down to the last match of the season. Penponds had a bye last week, while Camborne Conservative beat Porthleven 3-2 to move one point ahead of them into second place.

By a strange twist of fate, the two teams were due to play each other this week at Penponds. In the event of a 3-2 win for Penponds, the league has ruled that a further playoff frame would be played between one nominated player from each team to decide second place. Further news next week.

Four Lanes A (Graham Allen 32 break) moved into fourth place with a 5-0 victory over Clinton SC. At the other end of the table Illogan HI are almost sure to occupy one of the bottom two places unless both Four Lanes B and Bell's Court lose heavily this week. Last week Four Lanes B beat Bell's Court 4-1 to share joint next to bottom place with them. All now hinges on the last matches for all three teams.

In division three Playing Place needed just one more point from this week's match at home to Redruth Club C to be sure of the title. They lead Redruth RBL Youth by five points. Both teams won 4-1 last week, and are both are now sure of promotion. Congratulations to both teams on coming through a very tough battle between themselves and a number of other strong teams, which lasted most of the season.

The Youth team's victory last week came over Park Bottom, while Playing Place won at Radnor Golf A. Redruth British Rail had the best result of the week, winning 5-0 at Illogan HI.
