HELSTON ATHLETIC U16 7 CHARLESTOWN U16 0 Champions Helston ended their league programme with this convincing win at Kellaway Parc where they have not dropped a league point or lost a cup game in two seasons.

The visitors offered plenty of resistance throughout the game, but had no answer to the Blues' movement and football.

Helston dominated the first half with stand in 'keeper Neil Rollinson having a quiet game and seeing very little of the ball.

Helston's early pressure paid off when Ross Badcock opened the scoring with a powerful shot into the bottom corner on 22 minutes. Eight minutes later he grabbed his side's second goal.

A minute later Ryan Holland got on to the score sheet, shooting home after creating space for himself in the Charlestown area.

Badcock and Holland both had further efforts well saved by the Charlestown 'keeper.

With a comfortable 3-0 lead Helston started the second period as they had finished the first. They did not have long to wait to extend their lead, Liam Eddy receiving the ball from Mark Goldsworthy and seeing his shot squirm under the'keeper and into the net.

Within ten minutes Eddy had scored his second after being set up by Badcock and saw a further effort beat the 'keeper but go out of play off the crossbar.

Helston continued to push forward and were rewarded with further goals from Badcock, completing his hat-trick, and Mark Goldsworthy.

As the game drew to a close Rollinson was finally called into action, comfortably saving a shot from a Charlestown break away.

With the league programme completed Helston can now concentrate on the League cup final next Sunday at Hayle, kick off 10am and the County U16 Luke cup final at St Blazey the following Sunday, kick off 2.30pm.
