A training course costing £475 has been completed by Helston town council representatives to allow them to put out signs.
Town clerk Chris Dawson, town warden Glenn Manning, an administration assistant and five town marshals were forced to go on the course to allow them to put up and dismantle road closure barriers and signs on Flora Day in two weeks time.
The half-day training course cost £475, although the town clerk has managed to recoup £280 of that by opening spare places out to representatives from other councils in the area.
However, special jackets are also a mandatory requirement, three of which will have to be bought at a cost of £13.25 each.
Town clerk Mr Dawson told Helston town councillors that if they had not completed the course the work would have had to have been carried out by CORMAC at a cost of £293.22. This meant that, due to the fact they had been able to recoup £280 from the cost of the course, bringing the cost down to £195, they had already saved £98 this year alone - although this did not include the cost of the jackets.
