TRURO CITY 2
ST JUST 6
THIS was a scoreline which most football followers would have thought was a misprint, but "just like it says on the tin" The Tinners were 6-2 winners against Truro City in the Jolly's Combination League.
The visitors took the lead in the first minute when Alex Johnson volleyed in from a corner, but City were back on level terms after ten minutes when Luke Wort scored following good work by Martin Moon and Jack Wing.
Five minutes later City edged in front when 15-year-old Sam Cooper ran on to Moon's pass and hit a cracking shot past Andrew Curnow for his first senior goal.
But that was as good as it got for City. A quick free kick by Shane Richards to Neil Curnow saw the midfielder hit a trademark goal to put his side back on level terms. St Just regained the lead at the start of the second half when John Bird took advantage of indecision in the City defence to score.
Richards extended The Tinners' lead with a fourth goal before Sean May scored a penalty and blasted a 30-yard shot that went in off the post.
"We did well in the first half against a physical side, but in the second half we never performed," said manager Gary Pascoe.
