FIRST Defence Taekwondo Schools has been the first to get a real action movie film star to visit Cornwall to conduct a seminar.
Mike Beard, chief instructor of First Defence, is a good friend of Silvio Simac and when Mike approached Silvio to come down to Cornwall he was very honored to be asked and duly accepted.
Silvio conducted a seminar concentrating on speed, skill, strength, and suppleness and ended the session with a section on screen fighting. Paul Griffin from World Black Belt UK also conducted a seminar on the same day dealing with edged weapons self defence and showing us the conceptual art of Brithai.
The seminar was also attended by Falmouth Thai, Ashita Kai and Devon Martial Arts.
Cornwall Tae Kwon-do now has produced two new English Champions at the English Tae Kwon-Do Championships held in Cheltenham.
Kyle Silgram, a 10 year old from Pool, who trains at Camborne Tae Kwon-Do became English Champion by taking the gold in patterns and he also gained a bronze in sparring. Andrew Robinson from Truro Tae Kwon-Do Academy took the gold to become English Champion in the adult sparring divisions and also managed a bronze in patterns.
