THE death of a woman in a car crash near Truro yesterday morning brought out the worst in some motorists who became aggressive towards highway staff clearing the site. The accident, near Penmount Crematorium, caused traffic chaos at rush hour because the road was sealed off for several hours as crash investigators studied the site.
The A39 was closed both ways between the A30 junction and the A390 Tregolls Road junction in Truro. It was reported to police that some drivers, frustrated by the delays, were becoming very aggressive towards highways staff. They appealed to motorists to avoid the area as the road was likely to be closed for some time in order that a full investigation could take place.
Fire crews from Truro and Camborne were sent to the scene near the crematorium. Two vehicles were involved but police were unable to release any further information as the Packet went to press.
