A skateboard competition is one of the new ideas suggested to update and improve this year's Helston Harvest Fair.
Town clerk Chris Dawson was asked by members of the town's Harvest Fair Committee to contact Kerrier district council to see whether it would be possible to stage such a competition.
It was suggested that in order to help encourage more people to take part in this year's event there should be more promotion - particularly in relation to the pet show. It is hoped that that the pet show would once again take place in a marquee on the grounds of Helston Cricket Club, along with the dog show, horticultural and craft show and sideshows.
Mr Dawson was also asked to contact Helston Town Band, to see whether they would march in front of the carnival and then play a concert at Coronation Park. Committee chairman John Boase agreed to contact to the Cornish Wrestling Organisation, to see if they would once again put on a display - traditionally held in the town's Sunken Garden area.
