The popular Port Navas Regatta had another successful year on with a combination of water and field events for all ages and abilities.
Hundreds turned up to watch the fun and take part. "The atmosphere was very special," said Richard Tiptaft, chairman of the regatta committee. "People were clearly having a wonderful time and local charities have benefited as well – a win-win situation."
A special feature of this year’s regatta was the Punch and Judy Show which delighted both children and adults. Prizes were awarded by Annabelle Lucas, a resident of Port Navas, and the Ron Badger Annual Special Award, given to a person who has contributed above and beyond the call of duty to the success of the regatta, went to Henry Shaw. For many years he has worked tirelessly to create a successful event. The plans are already underway for next year’s regatta which will take place on on Saturday, July 30.
