This year's AZAB race will take place on June 2. The start on that date will be from Falmouth when 60 boats will leave for the Azors, 1,220 miles away then return.
The popular race sees any local sailors and crews taking part and organisers, the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club is hoping that the start day will be full of festivities with a RNLI lifeboat display with rescue helicopter prior to the start at 1pm.
Full details of the race and the festivities will be announced soon, but spectators should get a good view of the start from Pendennis and off Cliff Road. Pendennis Castle will be holding an open day and live commentary of the start is expected.
During the week leading up to the race, yachts will be berthed at various local marinas. It is also hoped to hold a shop window competition to coincide with the race.
