Helstonians who can't wait until next Tuesday to hear the familiar strains of the Flora Dance need look no further than the CD-single version produced by Helston Town Band, which has gone on sale in time for Flora Day 2007.
The CD was released last year in response to an overwhelming number of requests from people eager to own their own copy of the tune, in particular from Helstonians who have moved away from the town.
Other requests came from parents of Helston schoolchildren keen to practise their steps ahead of the big day, university students trying to explain the concept of Flora Day to friends, and from brass band enthusiasts across the world.
The music, as performed by Helston Town Band under the baton of musical director John Hitchens, is not the only thing on the CD.
TV news presenter Rebecca Wills, herself a Helstonian, also provides her own personal account of Flora Day, as well as interviewing Mr Hitchens and chairman of the Flora Day stewards Leslie Collins - resulting in a highly informative and interesting account of the unique tradition that is Flora Day.
Band spokeswoman Catriona Bell said: "The CD is a delight to own for anyone connected with Helston in any shape or form."
The CD, price £5, can be bought through the band's website, click the link below, or at Brian and Pauline Wills, Christophers Estate Agents, Church Street News, Cornwall Cancer Care, Meneage Street News, Wards of Helston, the Red Lion and Helston Museum. It will also be available on the Flora Day stall at the Guildhall on Flora Day itself.
