THE John Hatton trophy was played for in windy conditions when the competition was held at Mullion Golf Club on Sunday.
John P. Hatton was club captain in 1973 and the trophy presented by the family is played for in his memory, writes Gerry Fitter.
The 18-hole competition, a greensome Stableford, was won by Steve Lieske and Gary Howells with 35 points, beating Stewart Boon and Tony Foster 34 points with David Johns and Tony Giles also on 34 points in third place.
Mullion ladies played for the National Trust Cup last week and the 18-hole Stableford was won by Helen Carson with 36 points, retaining the trophy for a second year.
Dawn Lyon came second with 35 points (back nine), Jenny King was third with 35 points and Pamela Stanley fourth with 32 points. In all 32 players competed.
The junior section of Mullion Golf Club held their monthly medal on Saturday in dry but increasingly windy conditions. Division One: 1, Myles Summersall, 38pts; 2, Jordan Antrobus, 33pts; Rebecca Pitt, 31pts. Division Two: 1, Phil Pascoe, 40pt; 2, Daniel Kelsall, 40pts; 3, Sam Orchard , 37pts
