Hayle Surf Life Saving Club gained a new sponsor recently when local company Undersea Adventures Ltd, based on Hayle Industrial Park, provided tene new buoyancy aids for the crews of the club's inshore rescue boats together with four waterproof covers for their radios.
Club Captain, Dave Parker, said "We are extremely grateful to Undersea Adventures Ltd for supporting the club by giving us these buoyancy aids and radio covers.
"The new Rescue Boat Code being introduced by the Maritime Coastguard Agency means that our crews will have to wear a buoyancy aid at all times and would have meant a large expenditure for our voluntary club.
"These life jackets will ensure the safety of our crews and visually enhance the professionalism of our members who are fully qualified to operate the boats. We have our own IRB and also undertake the care, maintenance and storage of two region boats owned by Surf Life Saving Cornwall.
"We are a Centre for Excellence for IRB training and have recently hosted another Beach Lifeguard Training (BLT) course at the club where two of our members, Phil Needham and Scott Penberthy added their names to the growing list of club members with this professional qualification."
