Passengers were forced to evacuate a busy commuter train when it caught on fire just metres away from the platform of Camborne Station.
Around 100 passengers made the emergency exit accompanied by fire fighters, who led the passengers along the track to the platform.
The fire is believed to have started in the alternator in the main engine compartment, which caused heavy smokelogging of the train. It was forced to come to a halt 500 metres from the platform, just after 6.10pm yesterday.
All trains were stopped from running as crews from Camborne fire station wore breathing apparatus while they used a hosereel and CO2 extinguisher to put out the fire, which had been confined to the engine compartment. A thermal camera was then used to check for any hotspots.
