First Great Western is inviting its customers to help shape the future of its business, and improve the quality of its rail service, by joining an independent panel.
Volunteers from Penzance to Redruth are being invited to apply for the position on the West Customer Panel. The position, which is one of 11 available across the network, is open to all First Great Western customers - either commuter, business or leisure - who have an interest in train travel and want to help improve the First Great Western operation.
There are three Customer Panels which cover the First Great Western network. Each meets formally four times a year with First Great Western Directors and Senior Managers to aid constructive change and input into strategic issues and the development of future company initiatives. The meetings are also attended by key industry representatives, including Network Rail, the Department for Transport and Passenger Focus.
Customer Panel members can also be involved in six sub-committees - each set up to deal with one particular subject, such as timetables and fares - to help address the more individual and specific issues.
"We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated member to join the Panel," says Lesley Colman, Customer Liaison Manager, First Great Western. "The role does require an investment in time, attending the meetings and addressing customer correspondence, and a commitment to helping improve the customer experience. So, if you're a First Great Western customer and think you fit the bill then we'd encourage you to apply."
The roles are voluntary, although train travel passes for meetings are provided. Applicants must be over the age of 16 and are asked to write a detailed letter of application, covering their own regular train travel arrangements and their main areas of concern about the railway, as well as details as to what they hope to get out of the role and how they feel they can benefit the Panel.
All applications should be sent to Lesley Colman at the following address: Ms Lesley Colman Customer Liaison Manager First Great Western Milford House 1, Milford Street Swindon SN1 1HL The closing date is May 31.
