Traffic cones, rusty chains, bin bags, car headlamps, broken toys, cricket pads and fluffy slippers are just some of the transformed materials on display in a new exhibition at Falmouth Art Gallery.
This exciting contemporary art exhibition is billed as a load of rubbish and actually is!
It features an amazing array of recycled artwork created by some of Cornwall's best loved artists who are renowned for using recycled materials as a theme amongst their work.
Masters of the refuse tip have breathed new life into materials discarded by our throw-away society to produce paintings, sculpture and automata that will delight and amuse. There are also some good old traditional paintings of clutter for those who like their art flat.
We all know what the Sistine Chapel looks like - but how magnificent were the contents of Michelangelo's dustbin? This exhibition highlights the amazing, fun and quirky use of scrap materials by today's artists and has something to delight and amuse everyone, young and old.
Just some of the trash transformers on display include Robert Bradford, Stuart Carlyon, Michael Chaikin, Audrey Jackson, Karen Foss, Nick Strangelove, Kurt Jackson, David Kemp, Vince Bevan, Julie Kim Rossiter and Tim Shaw.
Other distinguished artists featured include Philip Cox, Henry Scott Tuke, Terry Frost, Anthony Frost, Patrick Caulfield, Kenneth Newton and Anthony Penrose.
An exciting programme of events has been organised to run in conjunction with the show, which will involve free workshops for babies, children, families, schools and community groups. These will include collage, mask making, puppetry and abstract painting.
Nick Brennan will also be returning to the gallery on Saturday 2nd June to lead a workshop on anthropomorphism comic-ism - or bringing stuff to life!
On Thursday May 31 the gallery will be holding a half term extravaganza which will include an afternoon of performances from magicians and jugglers and a special mime performance by Brett Jackson called Getting out of a box.
David Kemp will be opening the show with a talk on Saturday May 5 at 11am, this will be open to children and adults of all ages and admission is free.
The exhibition, Stuff Art - An exhibition of stuff and clutter has been mounted in association with Paper Pack and can be seen at Falmouth Art Gallery, The Moor, Falmouth from May 5 until June 30. The gallery is open between 10 and 5pm, Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays). Admission is free.
