Come on Mawnan turn out your cupboards, cellars and attics for old film and photographs. That's the call from the newly formed Mawnan Smith Local History Group.
Following the success of the DVD Mawnan at War, members of the group are now looking to produce two new DVDs for the village. The first will span across the two world wars from 1914 to 1940; the second featuring life in the village during the 1950's, and the group need your help.
The group's archivist Sylvia King says: "Hundreds of old photographs of the village have been lost or destroyed. We want to produce a comprehensive archive going back as far as possible. We are working with University College Falmouth and the University of Exeter Institute of Cornish Studies. Any material will be digitally copied and returned or safely stored in the Southwest film archive."
Sylvia can be contacted on 01326 250382 or you can send in your pictures and information via the Packet website www.thepacket.co.uk Starting in September, the Mawnan Smith Local History Group will be organising meetings in the Memorial Hall featuring guest lectures, visits, film shows and presentations,
