Female members of Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers enjoyed a very successful evening pulling - the tug of war that is.
The girls won the tug of war rounds at the county event. They had tough competition from the other girls' teams, but beat both teams in their group - Praze and Liskeard - before going on to beat Launceston in the final.
The result means they have qualified for the South West Area competition at Dorset on Sunday, June 10, as well as the county tug of war finals at County Rally, at the end of July.
The girls are extremely pleased with their success and are very grateful to all who have helped to train them, especially their coach Philip Jenkin for all his time and effort he has put in to making them a winning team! The boys also succeeded in winning a place at the County Rally and appreciated the training that coach Paul Nicholas had given them.
The Thursday evening before, members had an evening of clay pigeon shooting at Trevenen Farm. David and Anne Pascoe once again held the event, which was appreciated greatly by the members.
