The Phoenix Youth Club at the Wesley Chapel in Pool will be officially re-opened at a special ceremony at 6.30pm on MondaySeptember 17.

The ceremony will be performed by Terry Lello, the County Council's lead Member for Children, Young People and Families.

The youth club will be open on Monday evenings from 6pm - 8 p.m. for Year 7 and Year 8 pupils attending Pool School. It will be run by Karin Saunders, from Cornwall Youth Service and Graham Carter, from Pool School with the help of some older young people who will act as young leaders.

Karen Saunders said: "The young people have been trying to gain funding to keep the youth club running this summer. Carn Brea Parish Council were so impressed by their presentation they granted them £1,500 which has enabled them to redecorate the room."

The grant will also help pay for the necessary staffing.

A varied programme including sporting activities, further fund raising and accreditation opportunities will be on offer for the young people, including the Cornwall Awards and Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
