Residents and parish councillors of Scorrier and the surrounding area are being invited to see proposals for a £1.85 million recycling centre and waste transfer station in the village.
The exhibition will take place on Friday, September 14 between 2pm and 7pm and will be an opportunity to meet the designers and operators, see drawings of the plans and to ask any questions about the proposed facility.
Gareth Phillips, SITA Property and Planning Manager said: 'We are keen to involve the community in the planning of all our projects. At this exhibition people will see that what is proposed for Scorrier will be a modern facility that will play an important role in the development of recycling, which is vital to the sustainability of the county's future waste management. It will make it easier for local people to recycle much more of their waste, in a clean and safe environment.' The proposed facility is an important part of a scheme to replace United Mines and create new ones in Truro and Falmouth. The facility is needed in Scorrier to be ready for the closing of the waste facility at United Mines in October 2010 to ensure that the service can continue smoothly.
The exhibition will be held at Scorrier House, off the B3298, in Scorrier.
