THE first ever christening was held at the Falmouth Coastguard Station at the weekend.
Rebecca Courtney Alway, aged 18 months, was christened at the station on Sunday in front of friends and family who have strong connection to the Falmouth Coastguard.
The ceremony took place in a room at the station, with Reverend Barrington Bennetts leading the service.
Rebecca's parents, Biddy and Vernon, of Longfield, chose the venue as they wanted to have the christening somewhere different and somewhere that meant something to the family.
Biddy Always said: "It was a lovely day. The sun didn't shine quite as a much as I had wanted it to but it was a lovely service.
"My father, Dougie Rundle, served in the Falmouth Coastguard for many years, from when we moved to Falmouth in 1966 to when he retired, sadly he died almost 19 years ago.
"The coastguard was my childhood and dad worked their when the station was just a small hut, we have had a very long connection with the coastguard and it seemed appropriate to have the christening there."
Colin Sturman, area operations manager for the south west at Falmouth Coastguard Station, said: "We were very happy to have the christening here and Mrs Alway's father, Dougie, worked here for many years. It seemed appropriate and it was a pleasure for such a happy occasion to take place here."
