TRURO 28pts
HONITON 17pts
TRURO were hoping for the dawn of a new under coaches Phil Angove and Graham Whitmore for the beginning of the new season at St Clements Hill and their supporters were not disappointed as they ran out 28 points to 17 winners against Honiton in their Cornwall and Devon League game.
There was a real purpose about the city side's play as they sought to impose themselves on their visitors.
By the interval Truro were 13 points ahead, but after the break Honiton showed plenty of resilience as they chipped away at Truro's lead of 25-3.
Two tries scored by Hannay and Jones and were converted by Woolacott who also added a penalty award.
Further home tries came from Rickki Brandham and Allen to build up a good lead, but to their credit the visitors never gave up.
But at the final, Truro were very worthy winners, they should have a good season.
Scorers - Truro - tries: Trescothick 2, Allen and Brandham; penalty goals (2) and conversion, Martin.
Honiton - tries - Hannay and Jones; penalty: Woolacott; con: Wollacott (2).
On Saturday Truro are away to Oakhampton.
