TRURO City maintained their unbeaten start to the Toolstation Western League premier division season, but were made to work very hard for their 2-1 win against Bitton to get take all three points on a sweltering afternoon in front of 506 spectators.
There were very few chances to call in the first half as City's best came from Andy Watkins and the talented Chris Reski who again turned in a great performance for the team.
City suffered a blow when they lost defender Jake Ash with what seemed to be a calf injury and his replacement, Jamie Skinner, nearly scored right on half time.
The visitors always looked dangerous and provided a stern test for City with Jason Chapman pulling off two top-class saves to deny De-Wet and Meaker. However, within five minutes of the second half City's defence was cracked for only the second time this season when after a goalmouth scramble Bailey scored after Warren's initial effort effort had rebounded off the woodwork.
One thing is for sure and City always seem to lift their game when their backs are against the wall and in the 66th minute Marcus Martin was clearly brought down in the area and Yetton stepped up to score from the spot.
As the game progressed the better chances fell to City but Bitton were always a threat.
The winning goal was worth waiting for. It came following a cross by Gosling for Mark Vercesi to score with a terrific strike that gave the goalkeeper no chance.
The match still had one last twist of fate as De-Wet broke clear, but with a great chance to equalise blasted his shot wide.
It left City's 100 per cent record intact and, infact, they have not been beaten in a competitive match since their FA Vase sem-final first leg 1-0 defeat by Curzon Ashton in Manchester.
On Saturday City travel to familiar territory when they visit Welton Rovers in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.
City: Jason Chapman, Jake Ash, Marcus Martin, Tom Smith, Mark Vercesi, Danny Harris, Kevin Wills, Ian Gosling, Stewart Yetton, Andy Watkins, Chris Reski. Glynn Hooper, Justin Harrington, Jamie Skinner.
