CAMBORNE 3pts TORQUAY ATHLETIC 36pts CAMBORNE opened their South West Two campaign with a disappointing home defeat for their inexperienced young team.
Making a good start playing down the slope "Town" will reflect on a failure to put points on the board in the opening quarter when the enthusiasm of their forwards led by skipper David Roberts kept the visitors on the back foot.
In their first real attack the visitors went ahead in the 17th minute when flanker Tom Havill barged over off the back of a close range line out.
Fly half David Mankee put over a good long distance penalty on the half hour but before half time two more tries from the other members of the Torquay back row plus a Matt Jackson conversion made the score 3-17.
Camborne started the second half brightly with full back Joe Parma looking dangerous but a second try for No 8 Jon Arnold picking up from a five metre scrum on 54 minutes and converted by Jackson put the visitors out of sight.
Torquay pressure in the 65th minute brought a score in the scoreboard corner to make the score 3-29 and matters were made worse in stoppage time when visiting prop Nick Gill got a soft try at the front of a line out which full back Jackson converted.
